THE AUTHORS

author

Brytta H. Fitzgibbons has always had terrific spelling and punctuation skills and a creative imagination. At age 3 1/2, she was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum.  She was fortunate to live in a community that recognized and supported her educational needs. Brytta taught herself to type at an early age and created picture books with software into her adult life.  Tricky Pickle Carrot Cake was first written during her elementary school years.

Building on her exceptional spelling and grammar skills, Brytta trained to be a court reporter’s assistant. When technology became too complex and turnaround times demanding, she decided to move on.  Brytta now enjoys being a part-time cashier at the regional supermarket chain, Hy-Vee, Inc. She volunteers regularly at the local Genealogy Library, applying her typing skills to transcribe historic documents into searchable digital files, which allows her to engage in one of her favorite hobbies:  creating lists of names.

Brytta’s favorite author is Beverly Cleary who she remembers writing, “Creating a book isn’t easy, but it’s a lot of fun to see the end result.”  She wholeheartedly agrees.

Judy J. Fitzgibbons retired in 2019 from being an in-store dietitian for Hy-Vee, Inc. and decided it was time to help Brytta publish her story.

As a child she wrote poetry and in high school enjoyed a creative writing class.  In college Judy took print and television journalism classes which she used professionally as a nutrition educator.  For 10 years she wrote a weekly nationally syndicated health-related newspaper column and was the editor of a guide for small hospitals and care centers.

Judy also volunteers for the local Genealogy Library along with taking on special projects at her church and for the Iowa-Yucatan Partners of the Americas.

Brytta lives with her special cat, Pearl.  Judy lives with her special husband, Dale, along with their handsome cat, Charlie.  All reside in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
